Welcome to Wonder Frame blog!

Hi, I’m Viktorija
I’m folklore and fairy tales lover. I love crafts and working with my hands. And I am an artist and a professional animator too 🪄
How I Came Here
I can’t say that I’ve been drawing since childhood and naturally became an artist and animator. But I’ve always been drawn to one idea.
That a person can create entire worlds and stories with just a sheet of paper and a pencil.
Like a writer, but through images
At some point, I wanted to develop my skills deeply enough to really feel that power. So I decided to get an education in this field and connect my life with art.
Now I can see that academic art education is quite far from my current goals 🙂
But back then, it felt like the only possible path.
I studied academic drawing and painting, composition, anatomy. It gave me a solid foundation: an understanding of materials, structure, and the human and animal body. And I still believe that to break the rules, you first need to learn them 📚
At the same time, I missed something important there. We barely touched stylisation, illustration, or a freer and more therapeutic approach to drawing.
Within my studies, I also learned traditional crafts, especially Belarusian folk crafts. This quietly became the foundation of my interest in folklore and traditional art, something I would return to much later.
Later, I continued my education at another university and received a bachelor’s degree in design. This experience allowed me to see art from a more practical and applied perspective.
It also gave me a strong humanities background. We wrote many essays on different topics, from philosophy to urban studies. All of this helped me develop broader thinking and critical awareness.
At the same time, I was deeply involved in historical reenactment, medieval culture, traditional culture, and folklore. I participated in many festivals and still try to practice folk dances, singing, and crafts. These practices remain one of my greatest sources of inspiration ✨
That’s why my work and reflections often contain references to folklore, naive art, and history ⋆✴︎˚。⋆
What Came Next?
At some point, I realized that still images were no longer enough for me.
I wanted them to move.
Although I had already encountered animation before, I wanted to study it seriously. Since this kind of education wasn’t available in my home country, I decided to try applying to a university in the Czech Republic.
I learned the language, prepared for exams, and in 2018 I moved to the Czech Republic, where I later received a master’s degree in animation.

During my studies, I discovered stop motion. It always seemed incredibly difficult and almost unrealistic to me. Until I came across tutorials where animation was created simply using a phone.
That moment changed everything!
I became deeply involved in the process. Since then, I’ve completed many courses, and several of my short films have been shown at festivals.
In stop motion, I see a special kind of magic. The magic of working with real, tactile materials rather than purely digital ones ⊹₊ ⋆ ⭒
Once you try it, it’s very hard to stop 🙂
